Moderna, the developer of one of the key COVID-19 vaccines, will open a new Enterprise Solutions Hub in Atlanta, according to a release from Governor Brian Kemp’s office.
The biotechnology company will create at least 150 new jobs over the next two years, as operations begin later this year.
According to data compiled by Bloomberg, almost 555 million doses of coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the United States, with the vast majority manufactured by Moderna and Pfizer.
“The life sciences industry has become a leading source of U.S. employment growth, and I am pleased to welcome Moderna to Georgia’s thriving life sciences community,” said Governor Kemp. “Georgia provides the talent to support various sectors of the life science and digital health industries, and our pro-business environment and commitment to innovation provide additional incentive to companies looking for long-term success.”
Moderna adds to a growing list of companies that have opted to move to the state during recent years. For example, Titan Steel Door, Cisco, Rivian, and Amazon have announced additional investments in Georgia over the previous year.
According to a piece in Area Development Magazine, the state ranks as the top state to conduct business in, followed by Texas and Tennessee.
